Jacqueline Bisset won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television at the Golden Globes on Sunday. It was a win not many expected. Even the actress herself didn’t think she would get the award.
The 69-year-old star, who was in complete shock after her name was announced for her role as Lady Cremone in the Starz television series “Dancing On Edge,” took a few moments to get out of her seat. Once she did, she made the long walk to the stage, which seemed to take a little longer due to so many stars being crammed in a small area. Once she got there, nothing came out.
Before 2014, she had been nominated for a Golden Globe four times. For a few moments she stood on stage like a deer in headlights and just uttered an awkward giggle. The rest of the crowd began to laugh with her and Bisset tried as hard as she could to gather her thoughts together. Among her fragmented thoughts, NBC tried to bleep out some of her foul language, but she minored to make “sh*t” get on the air.
According to her, 47 years ago the Hollywood foreign press said she was a promising new comer. Nearly 50 years later, she thanked them for honoring her with the award. Though Bisset tried to gathere her thoughts, they remained disjointed.
"I want to thank the people who have given me joy. Like my mother who used to say 'go to hell and don't come back,'" she uttered at one point. "To look good, forgive everybody. It's the best beauty secret,” she added.
The music came on and Bisset knew it was time to leave the stage so she thanked everyone one last time and strode off the stage with her gold award in hand. She quickly became a trending topic on Twitter as many made quips about her long-winded speech. Even comedienne Ellen DeGeneres joked about it.
