UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has held his crown for over five years, but Saturday could mark the end of that incredible run.

The Canadian-born St. Pierre guns for his ninth consecutive title defense against American Johnny Hendricks at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The scheduled five-round bout marks Hendricks first title shot since he set foot in a mixed martial arts arena back in 2007. Moving up to UFC in August 2009, Hendricks has gone 15-1 thanks to his punishing knockout power. Eight of his victories have come way of brutal knockout, including four in the first round, and six via decision. Hendricks only loss was also a decision.

Considering the origins of his skills, no one could have predicted Hendricks potential to end a fight with a single blow. The Oklahoma native starred as a wrestler with the Cowboys at State University, and eventually captured two Division I national championships.

Employing his power might be the best tactic for Hendricks, especially against the 32-year-old St. Pierre, who’s won by unanimous decision in six straight. St. Pierre’s last knockout came after the ringside doctor stopped his bout with B.J. Penn in the fourth round back in 2009.

St. Pierre is also well-prepared if Hendricks tries to switch up his strategy and hit the mat. St. Pierre boasts a 75.5 percent takedown accuracy, and parries opponents attempts to take him down an astonishing 86 percent of the time.

Betting Odds: St. Pierre comes in as a -275 favorite.

A few weeks ago, it looked like the Dallas Cowboys might run away from the rest of the NFC East. After three weeks, they had a 2-1 record and the rest of the division was a combined 1-8. Entering Week 6, though, a loss could put Dallas in sole possession of third place.

On Sunday Night Football, the Cowboys will host the Washington Redskins, who are coming into the game at 1-3. They sit a half-game behind Dallas and the Philadelphia Eagles for first place.

The Week Five loss to the Denver Broncos was a very tough one to swallow for the Cowboys. The team had an historical night on offense, scoring 48 points. Tony Romo set a franchise-record, throwing for 506 yards and five touchdowns. He ended the contest with a 140.0 passer rating, higher than the 129.6 that Peyton Manning registered.

Despite his record-setting performance, Romo was blamed by many for the loss. He’s been accused of making too many big mistakes throughout his career, and Week Five was no different. His only interception came in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter and deep in Dallas territory. It set up a game-winning field goal for the Broncos.

"Romo played the best game that I've ever seen him play in his career -- not only from the standpoint of how he executed, not only how he created plays, but his leadership," owner Jerry Jones told Cowboys’ website. "If we can have that type of play from him and others, especially on the offensive side of the ball, I think we'll win most of our football games left."

Romo’s pick was costly, but the 51 points allowed by the Dallas defense lost them the game. No other NFC team has allowed more yards through the air. In 2012, the organization drafted cornerback Morris Claiborne sixth overall, with the intention of turning around a much-maligned secondary. The change hasn’t occurred, and Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III could be in for a big day on Sunday.

“I do believe this scheme is going to work,” Jones told105.3 ThecFan this week. “I think it’s going to create turnovers. I think the guys are playing hard for Monte and Rod Marinelli and the rest of the defensive staff. I think it’s going to improve. I don’t think it’s about not having the dogs. Certainly not going to make any excuses when it comes to injuries, but we really do have some really skilled players on our defense that I think are only going to improve.”

Griffin hasn’t been the same player this season, following offseason knee surgery. He’s on pace for just 288 total rushing yards this year, compared to the 815 he accumulated last season. However, the 23-year-old says he’s feeling healthy coming into the weekend.

“I feel good, great actually, rejuvenated,” Griffin said after practice Wednesday. “Everyone’s got a lot more energy coming off the bye week. Just ready to do what we know we have to do. As a team, we’re all just moving on from those first four weeks.”

Georgia is one of the best teams in college football, but they’ve been challenged in almost every one of their games. On Saturday, they’ll try to slow down a team that hasn’t lost all year.

No.25 Missouri makes the trip to Georgia this weekend for each club’s second SEC matchup of the 2013 season. The Tigers are 5-0, but haven’t faced a ranked team yet. Their opponents are a combined 15-13. The No.7 Bulldogs have one loss, but they’ve played one of the toughest schedules in the country. Through five games, they’ve already gone up against three top 10 opponents in Clemson, LSU and South Carolina.

Missouri isn’t expected to stay unbeaten, as they opened up the week as double-digit underdogs. However, the point spread has continued to move in their favor with several Georgia player being forced to sit out the game. Running back Keith Marshall is lost for the season with a knee injury and Todd Gurley, the team’s top rusher, likely won’t play with an ankle injury.

"I think we're fine. We're ready to go to battle again. Football is a physical game with injuries, and other teams have injuries," head coach Mark Richt said. "Some guys are very excited about the opportunity to make more contributions."

The onus will be placed on J.J. Green, who’ll get the bulk of the carries. He didn’t have any trouble against Tennessee when he replaced Marshall. The freshman picked up 129 yards on 17 carries.

Besides his best running backs, quarterback Aaron Murray will be without receiver Justin Scott-Wesley. Michael Bennett and his 14 receptions will also be forced to sit.

While the Missouri defense could take advantage of Georgia’s missing players, the Tigers will look to have a big day on offense. The Bulldogs rank 12th in pass defense in the conference and will start two freshmen in the secondary.

“We’ve just got some young guys, and they’ve gotta stop playing like they’re in high school and grow up,” defensive lineman Garrison Smith said. “It ain’t got nothing to do with coaching.”

Last year, Georgia ran away with their matchup against Missour, 41-20. The Bulldogs ended the contest with 24 unanswered points.

Teddy Bridgewater and the No. 8 Louisville Cardinals continue to roll through their stellar season and next take on old conference foe Rutgers on Thursday night at Cardinal Stadium.

Bridgewater has lifted Louisville to a 5-0 record with 16 passing touchdowns and 1,562 yards, outscoring opponents 222-34. Complementing the NFL prospect is top rusher Senorise Perry’s 298 yards and four touchdowns.

But the Cardinals could miss leading receiver DeVante Parker, who injured his shoulder in the first quarter of last week’s 30-7 victory over Temple. Parker has 21 catches for 375 yards and six touchdowns

The Scarlett Knights will likely face their old Big East rival without running back Paul James, who has already missed the last two games with no signs of coming back from an undisclosed leg injury. Before the injury James had already racked up 573 yards and six touchdowns.

Despite the loss of their top offensive player, Rutgers has still put together a four –game winning streak on the heels of quarterback Gary Nova’s 1,171 yards and 13 touchdowns. Receivers Leonte Carroo and Tyler Kroft each have 14 receptions, with Carroo pulling down seven touchdowns to Kroft’s two.

Head Rutgers coach Kyle Flood did reportedly say that starting linebacker Jamal Merrell will make his return on Thursday after missing three straight games, a good sign up a team letting up 27.6 points a game.

While the Louisville offense has put up prolific numbers, the Cardinals are also ranked No. 1 in the country with 6.8 points allowed per game. Louisville defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin has recorded six of the team’s 15 sacks this season.

Last year's regular season finale, Bridgewater played through a broken wrist and passed for 263 yards and two touchdowns for a 20-17 victory. The Cardinal defense only let up nine Rutgers first downs and 54 rushing yards. Nova was reponsible for two of Rutgers three turnovers, and the team went 3-for-11 on third down.

“It’s one of those games that you look forward to playing,” Bridgewater said to the Newark Star-Ledger. “Both teams, both schools, hate each other. But at the same time, we both respect each other. The level of play is so high when the University of Louisville and Rutgers meet that the rivalry just took off.”

The game kicks-off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast by ESPN, or watch their live online stream at Watch ESPN here.

Betting Odds: Louisville is favored by 19 points.
