A year ago the UCLA Bruins pummeled Arizona by 56 points in the middle of a five-game winning streak and carried that performance all the way to the Pac-12 title game.

A conference title is likely out of reach for quarterback Brett Hundley and the No. 16 Bruins this time around, but the revenge-minded Wildcats can pick up their first victory over a ranked opponent this season on Saturday night at Arizona Stadium

Arizona has won three straight off the fleet feet of the nation’s eighth ranked rusher in junior Ka’Deem Carey and all-purpose quarterback B.J. Denker. Carey’s gained 1,072 yards and 10 touchdowns off 188 carries, and Denker’s rushed for another 11 scores and thrown for 1,502 yards and nine touchdowns.

Last week Denker came up with four total touchdowns and Carey extended his streak of 100-plus yard games to 11 in a 33-28 win against Cal. Carey’s now gained more than 100 yards in 15 of his last 16 games, and the Wildcats are on pace for their first .500 or better conference record since 2010.

His Heisman-hopes likely dashed after two straight losses to national powerhouses Stanford and Oregon, Hundley steadied UCLA with two passing and two rushing touchdowns in last week’s 45-23 victory over Colorado.

UCLA was mostly able to extend drives going 6-for-11 on third down. In the two losses the Bruins went 14-for-33 on third down, but still lead the Pac-12 with a 52.1 conversion rate. Hundley also threw four of his eight interceptions on the year during the mini, but costly, slide.

Bruins leading receiver Devin Fuller also recorded three catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns, the first multi-touchdown game of his career, but 11 penalties for a loss of 122 yards could have soured the victory. UCLA is last in the Pac-12 with 75 penalties for a loss of 640 yards.

The Wildcats have largely limited their miscues, ranking third in the conference in penalties, and have protected Denker well, letting up the second fewest sacks.

Thanks to a three-headed monster secondary of defensive backs Tra’Mayne Bondurant, Shaquille Richardson, and Jourdon Grandon, Arizona also boasts the conference’s stingiest pass defense with 14 interceptions returned for four touchdowns.

UCLA’s Anthony Barr and Keenan Grahan continue to lead the conference’s eighth-best pass rush with 11 total sacks, and 5-foot-8 corner Ishmael Adams has racked up three picks for the nation’s 36th ranked defense.

Betting Odds: Arizona is favored by 1 point.

Notre Dame’s Tommy Rees only has one game on Pittsburgh’s Tom Savage in the two school’s century-plus rivalry.

Senior quarterback Rees’s one career start against the Panthers came in 2011, and he needed a fourth quarter rally to come up with the 15-12 victory.

The Irish have won three straight and hold the 47-20-1 all-time record in the 104-year-old rivalry. However those three games have been decided by an average of four points, including last year’s 29-26 triple overtime epic that nearly derailed Notre Dame’s national title hopes.

Savage, also a senior but in his first year as the full-time starter, has never faced the Irish and hadn’t taken a snap in over two years until arriving in Pittsburgh. He guided Rutgers to eight wins and passed for 2,211 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2009, but was hurt in 2010 and forced to sit out two years after transferring to Arizona and finally Pittsburgh. In his first three games of the season Savage totaled nine touchdowns to four picks, but has cooled off since his six touchdown game at Duke.

The dynamic passers hope to lead their teams to a victory on Saturday night at Heinz Field. Home field advanatage hasn't helped the Panthers of late, losing four of the last six meetings on their home turf.

Rees has so far won the statistical battle with 2,186 yards and 22 touchdowns to Savage’s 1,779 yards and 14 scores, but both also have a pair of top flight running backs behind them that haven’t really experienced the rivalry either.

Juniors Cam McDaniel and George Atkinson III have gained 919 yards and six touchdowns, but only Atkinson has logged any time against Pitt. He tallied two yards on one attempt in last year’s thriller.

Panthers junior Isaac Bennett is seventh in the ACC in rushing with 543 yards and five touchdowns, and freshman James Connor has racked up 407 yards and four scores.

Rees might have a leg up with senior receiver TJ Jones, who caught five balls for 53 yards and a score against Pitt last year, and has already broken his career season-highs with 742 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Panthers will counter with the receiving duo of senior Devin Street and freshman Tyler Boyd’s 1,334 yards and 10 touchdowns, along with the ACC’s third best pass defense and senior defensive lineman Aaron Donald’s 9.0 sacks.

After the huge loss to Oklahoma, the Irish defense has surrendered 34 points twice and on the year have given up 30-plus points four times, compared to one time for last year’s squad. Pass rushers Stephon Tuitt and Prince Shembo lead the Irish with 8.0 sacks, and junior safety Matthias Farley has recorded two interceptions.

Betting Odds: Notre Dame is favored by 4.5 points.

Sebastian Vettel was second fastest to Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton in second practice for the Korean Grand Prix as the Red Bull driver laughed off suggestions that his dominance is being achieved by illegal means. Vettel was just over a tenth of a second behind Hamilton, with the other Mercedes of Nico Rosberg third and teammate Mark Webber in fourth.

The man on course for a fourth successive drivers’ title was hit by the accusation from former team principal Giancarlo Minardi that Vettel’s car sounded like it was employing outlawed traction control in order to pull away at more than two seconds a lap from his rivals in winning the Singapore Grand Prix. The claim have been brushed off by Red Bull, while the likes of Fernando Alonso have also come out in his support. And Vettel had a joke about the suggestion after Friday afternoon’s practice.

"Overall a pretty solid day, we had no issues with the car, and there is room for improvement -- especially once we turn on the Traction Control," he told Sky Sports News.

Vettel has a massive 60 point lead over his nearest challenger Alonso as he looks to win a fourth Grand Prix on the spin this weekend in Yeongam. In addition to question marks over the legality of his performance, Vettel also faced being booed by fans while on the podium in Singapore. While he has received wide-spread support from colleagues in that regard, his suggestions that other teams were sleeping on the job to allow Red Bull to dominate has not been met favorably by Rosberg and McLaren’s Jenson Button.

An eventful weekend in Korea could be in store. Hamilton, now effectively out of the running for the title, was none the less encouraged by his showing on Friday. After several times enjoying a disappointing opening day only to rebound strongly in qualifying, he is happy that things clicked from the start this time.

“I was very happy with how the sessions went today and it's the first time I can remember that second practice has really gone well for me,” he said, according to the official Formula One website. “We haven't changed anything but the day just went smoothly and all the processes with the team worked well.”

Alonso was only seventh quickest, behind Lotus’ Romain Grosjean and teammate Felipe Massa in fifth. His new Ferrari colleague for next season, Kimi Raikkonen was eighth, ahead of Button. The Spaniard is not optimistic of an improved performance this weekend that would enable him to eat into Vettel’s advantage in the drivers’ standings.

“I am not expecting too many surprises when compared to the last few Grands Prix,” he said. “The time sheet follows the order that continues to be more or less the same seen in previous weekends and there is every probability that, again here, we can expect to struggle in the race.”

Where to watch: Qualifying for the Formula One Korean Grand Prix is scheduled to get underway at 1 a.m. ET. Coverage will be provided by the NBC Sports Network, with a live stream available on NBC Sports Live Extra.

The elite 32 clubs in Europe this season have been decided and now each eagerly awaits the draw for the group stage of the Champions League on Thursday. With 10 teams having secured their place through in playoffs this week, the competition can now begin in earnest.

The draw in Monaco features 11 former winners of Europe’s premier prize, including record nine time winners Real Madrid. Milan, which has lifted the trophy on seven occasions, were one of the sides to survive the playoff route. Each club’s record in UEFA competitions in the past five years is comprises a coefficient ranking, which is used to allocate them into four seeding groups. One side from each of these pots then make up the eight groups to decide who’ll go onto the knockout stage next year. Clubs from the same country cannot be drawn in the same group.

Champions Bayern Munich lead the top level of seeds as they seek to become the first club to defend the trophy since the Champions League era began in 1992. Also in there are Manchester United, which are making a record 19th appearance in its 22nd year.

There are plenty of quality sides in the lower seeding pots that the big boys will want to avoid, however. In pot two there are two quarterfinalists from last year in Italian champions Juventus and French champions Paris Saint-Germain. Incredibly, pot three includes last year’s runners-up Borussia Dortmund. Manchester City are also in pot three, and will be looking to avoid being drawn in a “group of death” for a third successive season.

An unenviable group looks likely to materialize, though. Pot four features Serie A runners-up Napoli, which has spent significant money this summer and are now coached by Rafael Benitez -- a former winner of the competition with Liverpool. Likewise, Real Sociedad, back in the Champions League for the first time in 10 years, will not be a name that any club wants to see in the same group as theirs.
