The 29-year-old MVP confirmed on Tuesday that he has a broken collarbone, and other reports have said he’ll miss a minimum of four weeks while hoping to avoid surgery. Durability has never really been an issue with Rodgers. Since taking over as the full-time starter in 2008, Rodgers has started 86 of a possible 88 games, missing two to rest up for the playoffs.

All of Green Bay might be worried about current starter Seneca Wallace, but they along with fantasy owners should take a closer look at how efficient he’s been. Wallace has thrown 31 touchdowns to 19 picks in 64 career games, and despite going 3-5 during a career-high eight starts in 10 games with Seattle in 2008, Wallace totaled 11 touchdowns to three picks.

Wallace was never asked to shoulder the bulk of the offense and Green Bay likely won’t ask him to do more than pass the ball off to Eddie Lacy, but he’d be a nice pick-up for any two-quarterback league.

Owners will also need some subs for the entire New England offense, especially breakout stud receiver Andre Dobson and tight end Rob Gronkowski returning to top form.

Also checkout some of the better options at quarterback, and at other positions below.

Kansas City, New England, N.Y. Jets, and Cleveland Browns are all on bye weeks.

QBs

Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

His seven touchdowns against Oakland should make him the Eagles starter for the rest of the season. Foles’s numbers will drop, but he’ll get plenty of opportunities against a Green pass defense that’s 20 th in the NFL. Start Foles in Week 10, and if he excels again he could be your regular starter for the rest of the season.

Eli Manning, New York Giants

On the flip side, Manning will face an Oakland secondary that must be hurting after such a harrowing loss. The Raiders are also just slightly above average with 23 sacks, and are 25 th in interceptions, Manning’s biggest problem this year. Manning’s league leading 15 picks are making owners forget he’s the same quarterback that’s passed for a minimum of 20 touchdowns in eight consecutive season, and he hasn’t thrown a pick in two straight games.

Case Keenum, Houston Texans

In two games Keenum’s hovering just below a 60 percent completion rate, has four touchdowns with no interceptions, and is averaging 10.53 yards per completion. Week 10’s opponent is Arizona, who just picked off Atlanta veteran Matt Ryan four times, but Keenum has more and far better targets in Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.

RBs

Zac Stacy, St. Louis Rams

At 4.6 yards a carry Stacy is the best thing going for the Rams offense, and they’ll meet a Colts defense that’s 27 th against run. Unless they fall behind early, Stacy will be the focal point of the offense as St. Louis tries to keep the Indianapolis offense on the sidelines. Last week Stacy scored his first two touchdowns of the year, which could be an anomaly so make him your second or third running back.

Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers

Despite Bell’s obvious talents, the Pittsburgh running game has been non-existent as they’ve fallen behind early and often. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been asked to throw 93 times in the last two games, and has thrown 40 or more passes in four games this season. But Pittsburgh should get an early lead against the Bills in Week 10 and the rookie Bell will kill the clock with some quality carries.

Mike James, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Another rookie, James punished the Seattle frontline for 158 yards on 28 attempts and nearly helped the Bucs pull of the upset. He’ll face a very distracted Miami team, and rack up another solid game. James has yet to reach the end zone, but that could change on Monday night.

WRs

Greg Jennings, Minnesota Vikings

Facing the Redskins, this could be one of the highest scoring games of the week. A quarterback carousel has limited Jennings production this season, but he is the only Minnesota receiver with a touchdown and Washington has given up 17 passing scores this year, the third worst mark in the league.

Marlon Brown, Baltimore Ravens

He’s benefitted greatly from lining up opposite Torrey Smith for a team-high five receiving touchdowns. Brown should continue that trend against Geno Smith-less Cincinnati, who might be more concerned about Ray Rice.

Michael Crabtree, San Francisco 49ers

Pick him up and stash away. Crabtree was cleared to practice, and could return this week or next from a torn Achilles suffered back in May. He’s the last 49er receiver to have a 1,000 yard season since Terrell Owens in 2003.

TEs

Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles

Ertz was one of the three players Foles targeted a team-high six times, and he hauled in five catches for 42 yards his first career NFL touchdown. Up next is a Green Bay squad that’s give up the third most fantasy points to tight ends this season. Ertz is a solid flex play, but is not a Gronkowski sub by any means.

Garrett Graham, Houston Texans

He hasn’t caught a touchdown since Week Four, but Keenum targeted Graham six times against the Colts. They’ll hit the road to face Arizona in Week 10, but they’ve allowed the most points to opposing tight ends this season.

Three of the NFL's top running backs, one breakout rusher, and one of the top five receivers will all sit out Week Five for byes, leaving fantasy owners scratching their heads on who to start.

Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson (No. 2 with 421 yards, 5 TDs), Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin (No. 4 with 356 yards, 1 TD), and Washington’s Alfred Morris (No. 7 with 296 yards, 2 TDs) will all rest up. As will Pittsburgh rookie LeVeon Bell, who had 57 yards and two touchdowns in his first NFL game, and fellow Steeler Antonio Brown (No. 5 with 32 receptions, 412 yards, 2 TDs).

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, whose sixth in the NFL with 1,202 passing yards, also won’t be in anyone’s line up in Week Five. Griffin’s value has dipped since he’s not rushing nearly as many times as he did last season, but he’s still one of the more accurate passers in the league. With Griffin rushing less, owners can plug in such passers as Eli Manning or Sam Bradford, and possibly get some of the same production.

Still that's a lot of fantasy points lost for any owner lucky to have any of the aforementioned performers. Scour your bench or league waiver wire for some of the below players who serve as a one week stopgap.

Byes: Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Washington

RBs

Rashad Jennings, Oakland Raiders

During his three years in Jacksonville, Jennings was really a handcuff to Maurice Jones-Drew. But after Week Three he could be the No. 1 option in Oakland with Darren McFadden showing no signs of repeating his 1,157 yards and seven touchdown performance of 2010.

LeGarrette Blount, New England Patriots

Blount is splitting his carries with Stevan Ridley, but his size should land him more snaps in the red zone and the goal line. He also has New England’s only rushing touchdown after four games.

Eddie Lacy, Green Bay Packers

Lacy said he planned to comeback after Green Bay’s bye week, and reportedly had a great practice on Monday. He’ll probably split carries with James Starks until the Packers are comfortable.

WRs

Justin Blackmon, Jacksonville Jaguars

Blackmon is fresh off a four-game suspension, and is reportedly in terrific shape. He’ll provide some relief for the entire offense, as he led the team in targets and catches last season for 865 yards and five touchdowns. This week Blackmon should start against St. Louis, a team ranked 18th in the league with 253 passing yards allowed a game.

Robert Woods, Buffalo Bills

The rookie out of USC is second on the team in yards, and tied with three plays of 20-plus yards and for receiving touchdowns with two. Cleveland is a difficult matchup in Week Five, so consider Woods your third receiver, or second at best.

Justin Hunter, Tennessee Titans

Probably best to stash him away until later in the season or beyond if you're in a dynasty league if you have the roster space. Hunter has shown flashes of chemistry with recently injured quarterback Jake Locker, and the two could hook up more when Locker comes back.

QBs

Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams

The Rams have lost three straight and Bradford’s completion percentage and yards per completion have dropped for three consecutive weeks. But this week he’s playing Jacksonville, a team that’s given up nine passing touchdowns this season.

Eli Manning, New York Giants

Yes, Manning is first in the league in interceptions (9) and 29th in completion percentage. Still he’s averaged 230 yards and two touchdowns in 18 career starts against his Week Five opponent Philadelphia. In the final game of the regular season last year, Manning also torched the Eagles for five touchdowns, and they are current ranked 31st against the pass.

Terrelle Pryor, Oakland Raiders

In Week Four the Raiders sorely missed Pryor, who was pulled at the last second once the NFL player’s union questioned how quickly the team was putting back on the field after a concussion. After Matt Flynn was sacked seven times, it’s easy to see why Pryor was on the run so often. If he’s healthy, Pryor could mangle San Diego, who’s given up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks so far, in Week Five.

TEs

Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles

Celek’s numbers thus far are less than underwhelming, seven catches 131 yards and one touchdown, but the Giants have struggled this season defending tight ends. In career games against New York, he’s totaled 29 receptions for 397 yards and three touchdowns.

Zach Miller, Seattle Seahawks

The market for tight ends is rather shallow this week, but Miller could be available in eight or 10-team leagues. Even though his scores came against the lowly Jaguars, he’s tied for first on Seattle with two touchdowns, and is a better start than the Colts Coby Fleener, who’s one of the hotter pickups this week.

Garrett Graham, Houston Texans

Houston quarterback Matt Schaub is spreading the ball to either Graham or Owen Daniels. In almost any league, Daniels is owned more, so Graham could be a sneaky addition for this week and beyond. If your league has as flex spot, you could even handcuff them.

NFL Fantasy Football Week 4: Who To Pick Up And Start At QB, RB, WR, And TE; Plus Sleeper Picks And Rankings getdiscountz.blogspot.com

It’s Week Four in the NFL, which means the start of bye weeks. Green Bay and Carolina are the first teams to sit and rest up, leaving fantasy owners without the services of quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton, as well as receivers Steve Smith and Jordy Nelson.

This is the crucial part of the season when dissecting matchups and previous success is the key to a successful run at the playoffs. Injuries, another huge factor to consider, are also taking their toll around the league.

Check out the players at each position below. All are capable of serving as a one week plug-in or even a full-time starter down the line.

RBs

Bernard Pierce, Baltimore Ravens

Though the Ravens are hopeful, Ray Rice’s status is still in doubt due to a hip injury that caused him to miss his first game since his rookie season. Pierce has scored touchdowns in consecutive games, and faces a Buffalo defense that’s giving up 155 rushing yards a game.

Brandon Bolden, New England Patriots

He missed the first two games of the season with a knee injury, but exploded for 51 yards on three carries and five catches for 49 yards. Bolden is gaining confidence, and reportedly could take more third down carries and plays from Shane Vereen.

Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers

The rookie will reportedly make his NFL debut in London this week, coming back from a Lisfranc injury. He was going to be the No. 1 back before the injury, and should get plenty of touches. He’ll still have to overcome Pittsburgh’s porous offensive line, but the Vikings are 21st against the rush.

QBs

Brian Hoyer, Cleveland Browns

Many thought the Browns were trying to tank the season after trading Trent Richardson, but if so Hoyer was kept out of the loop. The five-year vet stepped in and had more pass attempts, completions, and touchdowns against Minnesota than in any game in his previous three years. It might be a flash in the pan, but the Cincinnati defense hasn’t appeared as dominate as predicted this season, and Hoyer could torch them in Week Four.

Mike Glennon, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs are benching Josh Freeman in favor of rookie Glennon, giving him one game ahead of the team’s bye week to evaluate his performance. Glennon threw 62 touchdowns in his last two years at NC State, and has plenty of reliable receivers in Vincent Jackson and Mike Wallace. In a dynasty or keeper league it's best to pick-up and stash Glennon for now.

Phillip Rivers, San Diego Chargers

He’s perhaps the best plug-in for Rodgers in Week Four. Rivers and Rodgers are tied for second in the league with eight touchdown passes, but the San Charger has a better passer rating and fewer interceptions. He’s carrying the Chargers atrocious defense, and meets a Cowboys “D” ranking 22nd against the pass.

WRs

Cecil Shorts, Jacksonville Jaguars

No receiver has made the most of bad situation than Shorts. He’s currently 10th in receiving yards, and tied for 11th with 19 catches. Shorts is most likely available in eight or 10 team leagues since he hasn’t caught a touchdown yet, but his ability to make big plays could prove fruitful against an Indianapolis team that’s given up nine plays of 20-plus yards. Shorts is a third option in Week Four, but in the coming weeks his value could shoot up.

Ryan Broyles, Detroit Lions

A freak accident to teammate Nate Burleson has moved Broyles up the depth chart. It’s Broyles best opportunity since he was drafted last year, but his struggles with injuries from his college days have limited his development. Assuming Broyles is healthy, he could be a solid second or third receiver.

Denarius Moore, Oakland Raiders

A head injury to Terrelle Pryor has him questionable for Week Four, which would likely give Matt Flynn the start. That’s to Moore’s benefit as Flynn will make lots more plays with his arm than Pryor. Also in Week Four, the Raiders are home against Washington and its last place defense.

TEs

Scott Chandler, Buffalo Bills

The Bills are a rush first team, but tight ends have been the best options for rookie quarterbacks. Chandler and EJ Manuel had their best game as teammates this past week, and meet an inconsistent Ravens secondary in Week Four.

Charles Clay, Miami Dolphins

Oddly enough he’s thrown for one touchdown, but the third-year tight end/fullback hasn’t caught one this season. Still Clay is second on the team in receptions and yards, and the Dolphins are a far better passing than running team. They face the majorly improved Saints secondary this week, but Clay should be the best option for quarterback Ryan Tannehill underneath.
