Riding high with a perfect record and the NFL’s most potent offense, the Denver Broncos host the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Denver is first in the NFL in yards (486.7) and points (42.3) per game, but the Eagles are just as potent, averaging the the second most yards per game.
The difference has been a Broncos defense capable of shutting down their opponents rush. Denver is first in the NFL allowing 43.3 rushing yards per game, and four total touchdowns on the ground. Though its helpful when quarterback Peyton Manning puts points up early, forcing opponents to throw. On the flip sie the Broncos secondary is 30th in the NFL.
Last week in a 37-21 win over Oakland, Manning padded his stellar stats with 374 passing yards and three touchdowns, connecting with receiver Eric Decker eight times for 133 yards, and Demaryius Thomas for 10 catches and 94 yards.
It was the first game without All-Pro left tackle Ryan Clady, but this week the Denver offensive line will miss center J.D. Walton. Philadelphia is 10th in the NFL with nine sacks through three games.
The Broncos will be tested early and often by the Eagles and their rush-first offensive attack. Thanks to NFL leader LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia is averaging 209 rushing yards a game.
Unfortunately that success hasn’t resulted in a winning record. The Eagles suffered their second straight loss last week to Kansas City and former coach Andy Reid.
Quarterback Michael Vick completed 13 of his 30 passes for 201 yards and a score, but his two interceptions, and a lost fumble on Philadelphia’s final drive hurt any chances of tying the Chiefs late.
McCoy did his part by gaining 158 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and receiver Jason Avant totaled five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown.
The game starts at 4:25 p.m. ET and will be broadcast by FOX, or watch a live online stream by purchasing NFL Game Access here.
