The users of carrier-branded versions of the HTC (TPE:2498) One in the U.S. will have to wait a little longer to receive the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update on their handsets, according to a company executive.

HTC’s U.S. president, Jason Mackenzie, took to his Twitter page on Friday to announce that the rollout of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware update for the HTC One on any carrier in the country might not meet the Sept. 30 deadline and go beyond that.

The delay applies to the Droid DNA, which was also said to be receiving an update to Android 4.3 by the end of this month.

“3 days left on 4.3 deadline for US/Canada HTC One. Unlocked out! Carrier skus coming, but will slightly miss 9/30. Will keep u updated,” Mackenzie tweeted.

The executive said in an earlier tweet in August that HTC was working hard to release the Android 4.3 update across all carriers in the U.S. and Canada by the end of September.

Meanwhile, the developer edition units of the HTC One have started receiving the Android 4.3 update on Thursday. According to owners, the firmware update hit HTC’s home turf Taiwan a few days ago and is now arriving on more models of the device, including the U.S.

According to Android Highlights, the update weighs 564.04MB and it makes the user interface stable. The owners of unlocked HTC Ones in the U.S. can check out the update manually by navigating to Settings > About Phone > Software updates > Check for updates.

Here is a brief changelog:

- Android 4.3 update

- Battery charging percentage indicator

- Improved Gallery

- Low-light performance noticeably improved

- Added few more Video highlights options

- Ability to add soundtracks to your Highlights

- Overall System got stable and more

Despite the slight delay in rolling out the Android 4.3, it seem is that HTC could be scrambling to update its flagship handsets before rivals, such as Samsung (KRX:005935).

Rumors have it that the South Korean tech giant may release the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S4 in October, while the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 could their scoop in November or December.
