Target spokesman Eric Hausman confirmed on Thursday evening that it has "no indication that debit card PINs were impacted" during the enormous data breach in which information was stolen from some 40 million credit and debit cards that were used in its stores from Black Friday through Dec. 15, USA Today reported.

Target warned customers to pay extra-close attention to their credit card and bank statements after admitting it had a massive data breach. The stolen information included names, credit or debit card numbers, card expiration dates and the three-digit security code, known as the CVV, on the back of cards, the retailer reportedly said.

Andy Obuchowski, a director for security and privacy at consulting company McGladrey, said the massive breach is the latest example of a growing problem for retailers that has become more prevalent as an companies increasingly outsource writing and maintaining software.
