More than a million people are expected to pack Times Square when for New Year’s Eve as revelers say goodbye to 2013 and user in 2014.
If crowds aren’t your thing or you won’t be in New York City for New Year’s Eve 2014, you can still catch a glimpse of the action via earthcam.com, which has this live webcam of Times Square. As of Tuesday afternoon, the live cam showed police setting up barriers in Times Square and the assembling of platforms and stages at the Crossroads of the World. The area was already bustling with packed crowds trying to get a front-row seat to the countdown to 2014.

For those taking a live look at Times Square from the street, security will be tight. According to the Times Square Alliance, knapsacks and large bags won’t be allowed in the area on New Year’s Eve. There will also be plainclothes officers patrolling Times Square, who will be on the lookout for suspicious people and packages. Radiation detectors will also be deployed and anyone accessing the area will be searched with a hand-held wand. Alcohol and champagne is also prohibited for Times Square revelers.
