General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE) on Friday said that its third-quarter profit fell 9% as business at GE Capital slowed a bit.
The company posted a profit of $3.19 billion, or 31 cents a share, down from $3.49 billion, or 33 cents a share a year ago.
GE said revenues at its GE Capital unit fell 5.7%. Its bottom line was also hit by $132 million of foreign exchange-related costs.
Excluding one-off charges and costs, the company reported earnigns of 36 cents per share, a penny better than analyts polled by Thomson Reuters had expected.
