The son of nine-time NFL Pro Bowler Randy Moss is already following in his father’s footsteps. Just a sophomore in high school, Thad Moss is already considered to be one of Rhode Island’s most dynamic football players.
Moss’ son, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs an imposing 240 pounds, is in the midst of a breakout season for Lincoln High School, Yahoo Sports’ Prep Rally reports. The high school sophomore seems poised to become a top college football recruit in the next few years.
Thad initially garnered headlines in 2012 amid reports that he was transferring high schools in a bid to generate interest in his burgeoning basketball career. The 15-year-old spent his freshman year at two different schools—Boone County High in Florence, Ky., and St. Albans School in Charleston, W.Va., Prep Rally reports.
Moss has since abandoned basketball in order to focus on football, and has already emerged as one of Rhode Island’s most versatile players. Possessing a rare blend of size and athleticism, the sophomore has played defensive end, tight end, wide receiver, and even quarterback for Lincoln High, Max Preps reports. To make matters worse for defenders, Moss is still growing; he’ll likely be even stronger and faster by the time he has to choose a college.
Athletic ability runs in the Moss family. Thad’s older sister, Sydney, was a standout high school basketball player in Kentucky and will play for the University of Florida this fall.
Meanwhile, NFL fans will not have forgotten their father, Randy Moss, who is a sure-fire NFL Hall of Famer. The 36-year-old recorded more than 15,000 receiving yards and 156 touchdowns during his 14-year NFL career.
