A 23-year-old man was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport Saturday morning for having two handguns, two rifles and high-capacity magazines in his checked luggage, the Associated Press reports.
Keenan Draughon of Clarksville, Tenn., was arrested when Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police found the weapons as he was trying to board a flight to Charlotte, N.C. According to NBC New York, one of the rifles was loaded.
The U.S. Transportation Security Administration rules only allow unloaded weapons in checked luggage, the AP said.
Police spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said the serial numbers on the two riles were defaced. Additionally, the high-capacity magazines found in Draughon’s luggage are illegal in New York.
According to the AP, Draughon is currently being held on six counts of criminal possession of a weapon pending an arraignment. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
