“Teen Mom 2” star Leah Messer-Calvert recently found out on season 5 of her MTV reality show that her daughter Ali might be confined to a wheelchair one day because of her muscular dystrophy, but apparently the 4-year-old is proving the doctors wrong and has already began to run. It was only six months ago that they said she would probably need to be in a wheelchair for most of her life, but at the rate Ali’s going, it doesn’t seem like she’ll need one any time soon.

“Ali is running! She’s going so much better than expected,” Calvert, who is married to Jeremy Calvert, told Life & Style, as quoted by Radar Online. “We don’t know what the future holds, but this is proof that we should never give up hope.”

Leah explained that she couldn’t believe when Ali, one of her twin daughters who she had with ex-husband Corey Simms, began running.

“She has so much determination,” she said. “We’re in awe of how she handles adversity.”

In Simms defense, when doctors told the family Ali would probably be confined to a wheelchair he said he didn’t believe it and to mark his words that he would one day walk his little girl down the aisle as she stood on her own two feet.

Calvert isn’t getting her hopes up though. There still is a chance Ali could wind up in a wheelchair. But not matter what the outcome is of Ali’s disability; Calvert has been able to find the silver lining.

“Ali’s disability has really brought us closer,” she said about her blended family. “We’re going to conquer this together.”

“Teen Mom 2” airs on MTV every Tuesday at 10/9c.
