Jose Mourinho spent six years away from Stamford Bridge, but in less than a year he could bring Chelsea back to the top of the English Premier League.
Four points of breathing room on the table have afforded first-place Chelsea with the best odds to capture the Premier League title at 11/10, according to odds makers at Bovada.lv. Should they prevail it would be the Blues first EPL championship since 2010 and fifth in the club’s history.
Mourinho and his club, led by Eden Hazard’s 12 goals and seven assists and 12 clean sheets from top keeper Petr Cech, haven’t lost a match since December.
Barely clinging to fourth place on the table, Manchester City is more favored than Liverpool and Arsenal at 3/2 odds. The edge can largely be attributed to City’s league-best 42 goal differential, 69 goals for, and the top play of Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure.
City also has a favorable schedule, with six of their final 10 matches against teams ranked no higher than ninth on the table.
The Reds are next up to end their 24-year English title drought at 9/2 odds, but could come up short after failing to bring Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge any reinforcements during January’s transfer session. However if any player can lift Liverpool to new heights its Suarez, who’s in line to win the Player of the Season award by currently leading the EPL with 24 goals and 10 assists.
Though they held on to first for the majority of the season, Arsenal comes in at 16/1 odds. Tied with Liverpool for second place with 59 points, the Gunners and manager Arsene Wenger face a tough five-match stretch with two consecutive trips to Tottenham and Chelsea followed by a two-match home stand versus Swansea and Manchester City, and a jaunt to Everton.
Should they make it through that gauntlet, the Gunners could be in excellent form to end the season against Hull, Newcastle, West Bromwich, and Norwich.
