A third victim has died in Wednesday night’s shooting at a Detroit barber shop that had a reputation for gambling.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig said the motive for the shooting was unclear. Craig was scheduled to have a news conference Thursday morning to give updates on the case; no arrests have been made and police are still looking for at least two suspects.

“It’ll be a time to clear up a lot of confusion of what happened last night,” Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody told the Detroit Free Press Thursday.

A dice game was going on when gunfire erupted at the Detroit barber shop, but it’s unclear whether the game played a role in the incident, the Associated Press reported.

“We’re not sure if this was over a bad debt; we have no idea,” Craig said, according to CBS Detroit. “We know it’s a barber shop and gambling has occurred in this location.”

The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. Wednesday at Al’s Barber Shop.

“Two vehicles were involved in a shootout,” Detroit Police spokesperson Kelly Miner told CBS Detroit. “Someone shot into the building and that’s when people rushed out of the building and were running into other area businesses for cover.”

Three men were killed in the shooting and six others were wounded in the shooting. Three cars pulled up into an alley behind the barber shop, including two Chevy Impalas, shortly before the incident.

A man working nearby at the time of the shooting, 26-year-old John Zakar, told Reuters that he heard 20 shots when three of the wounded ran into his store and took cover.

"I locked the door behind them and applied pressure to the wounds," Zakar said.

A mother of one of the slain victims said her son was 40 years old.
