Floyd Mayweather set a record on Wednesday when a contract was filed to guarantee him a $41.5 million purse for his fight with Canelo Alavrez. However, it appears he could be in line to make a lot more than that.

According to Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, the boxer could earn nine figures for Saturday night’s bout. He told Yahoo! Sports that Mayweather could land $100 million from the fight.

"Listen, if this fight goes through the roof, Floyd Mayweather could make $100 million in this fight as sure as we're standing here talking," Ellerbe said. "I don't want to get into all of the specifics.”

It might be hard to imagine Mayweather netting that much, but Ellerbe was insistent upon the number, according to the report. The bout has been hyped as one of the biggest in recent years, and could set Pay-Per-View records. The head of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, has said he hopes to break two million buys. If that happens, it could rake in more money that the Floyd Mayweather-Oscar De La Hoya fight in 2007, which was the most profitable bout in history.

Last year, Forbes reported that Mayweather made more money than any other professional athlete in the world. The same will likely be the case in 2013 after his fights with Alvarez on Saturday and Robert Guerrero in May.

Alvarez’s contract for the fight will net him $5 million. Sources tell ESPN, though, like Mayweather, the Mexican will make more than his contract states. Alvarez is reportedly guaranteed to make at least $12 million on Saturday.

"He will end up making more than $5 million," said Schaefer. "He is going to make a significant upside because of the pay-per-view. It doesn't matter that he is getting $5 million [on the night of the fight] because he will make millions and millions more because I guaranteed him money on the pay-per-view, but I don't want to say how much."

Mayweather is a minus-280 favorite over Alvarez. Both boxers are undefeated.
