Plenty of high school football players have starred on the basketball court or the baseball diamond, but one player in Dallas chooses to stay on the sidelines during halftime.

In one of the most unique stories in high school football, a 335-pound high school defensive lineman is also playing a dual role with the cheerleading squad.

According to a report from MyFoxDFW.com, senior Armand Fernandez-Pierre is making waves with his incredible strength on the football field for Episcopal School of Dallas, and during halftime performances with the cheerleading squad.

Fernandez-Pierre led ESD to a 41-0 victory in their season debut last week. The report says he’s already been contacted by college powerhouses Miami and UCLA to play next year, but head football coach Clayton Sanders had to convince him to play in the first place.

“I met him in the cafeteria, shook his hand, and [sic] this kid like to crush my hand,” Sanders said. “I said this kid’s gotta play football.”

However, Fernandez-Pierre was unsure since he suffered a neck injury when he was in eighth grade, and his fellow cheerleaders didn’t want to lose him.

"We fought tooth and nail to keep him just on our team and our sideline," cheer coach Eric Daboa said. "But we realized what a good athlete he is and understand the opportunities that he would have with football."
