NBA free agent Chris Duhon was reportedly struck by a car over the weekend after a dispute with man in an Orlando parking lot.
An unnamed driver intentionally struck Duhon with his car last Saturday, Fox 35 Orlando reports. Local police stated that the incident occurred in the Plaza Parking Garage in Orlando, Fla.
According to a police report, the 31-year-old Duhon and brother-in-law Julio Hernandez were walking in the parking garage when the driver of a black Lexus began honking at them in a bid to get them out of his way, Fox 35 reports. Hernandez reportedly told authorities that the driver of the Lexus rolled down his window as he drove by, sparking a verbal altercation between the two parties.
As the argument escalated, the driver, who has yet to be identified, reportedly exited his car and confronted Duhon, Fox 35 reports. The former Los Angeles Lakers guard reportedly argued with the driver until Hernandez separated them. The alleged assailant then got back into his car.
Hernandez claims that he and Duhon managed to walk about 20 feet away from the scene of the argument before the driver steered his car in their direction, Fox 35 reports. Hernandez managed to avoid the vehicle, but the driver intentionally struck Duhon.
The 31-year-old landed on the hood of the Lexus, and his head reportedly struck the car’s front windshield, Fox 35 reports. After the hit-and-run, Duhon was taken to nearby Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities have yet to reveal if the NBA player suffered any injuries in the accident. However, Hernandez told Fox 35 that Duhon was able to walk out of the hospital under his own power.
Orlando police said that they questioned Duhon about the altercation, but the 31-year-old was unable to recall any details regarding the incident. He reportedly plans to press charges against the driver if the individual is caught.
