Detroit Lions tight end Joseph Fauria has revealed that his ‘N Sync touchdown dance was performed for a good cause.

Fauria, an undrafted rookie tight end, caught his second touchdown of the season last Sunday during the Lions’ Week 2 matchup against the Washington Redskins. After the catch, Fauria broke out an abbreviated version of N’ Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” dance, causing a Twitter frenzy in the process.

"We were going nuts," Jimmy Fallon said on “Late Night” this week, ESPN reports. "We all saw it on Twitter. We were going crazy."

Fauria’s N’ Sync touchdown dance was actually performed in connection with a recent skit performed by “Late Night” host Jimmy Fallon and pop star Justin Timberlake. In the skit, entitled “Evolution of End Zone Dancing,” Fallon and Timberlake performed several humorous touchdown dances; at one point, Fallon even mocked Timberlake by performing the “Bye Bye Bye” dance.

Fallon promised to donate $10,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation if an NFL player performed the N’ Sync dance after scoring a touchdown, ESPN reports. Last Sunday, Fauria accepted the challenge.

"That's where I got it from," Fauria told ESPN. "And also being an 'N Sync fan for a long period of time. You know, when I had my bleached blond tips when I was 10, you know."

On early Wednesday morning, Fallon announced on “Late Night” that he’d made good on his promise, donating $10,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The SNL alum tweeted Fauria before the show, urging him to watch the show for the announcement. “Thank you for dancing out there and making it fun,” Fallon said on the show.

Fallon wasn’t the only celebrity to take notice of Fauria’s N’Sync touchdown dance. On Monday, N’Sync member Joey Fatone took to Twitter to congratulate Fauria on his fancy footwork. “my man !!!! Nice moves ! [sic]” Fatone wrote.

Fauria isn’t shy about showing off his N’Sync knowledge. “You may hate me, but it ain’t no lie,” Fauria wrote on Twitter after the game, a reference to “Bye Bye Bye’s” lyrics.
