It appears there may be trouble in paradise for one Hollywood A-list couple. A new report is claiming that former “Lizzie McGuire” actress, Hilary Duff and her athlete husband, Mike Comrie are suffering from relationship issues after just three years of marriage.
According to a report from Star magazine Wednesday, the 25-year-old actress has allegedly started attending therapy with her 32-year-old husband, a retired professional ice hockey player, in an effort to keep their romance alive. “She felt like Mike forgot how to treat her special,” an inside source revealed to the magazine, claiming the twosome was on the “verge of separation” before they began attending counseling in Feb. Despite their initial struggles, the source claims the couple is currently doing well and are now “more in love than ever.”
Duff commented on the topic of marriage during an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine in 2008 stating she felt ill-prepared to venture into matrimony with Comrie, just three years before the couple took the plunge in 2010. “I'm definitely not ready to get married!" said Duff. "I think a reason that people in this business get married young is that they feel like everything comes to them sooner in life. It's normal to be like 'Okay, what's next?'”
According to the report the couple met during a flight to Idaho while Duff was vacationing with friends. The actress told Cosmopolitan that Comrie’s busy lifestyle was what first attracted her to her now husband and father to their 17-month-old boy, Luca. “I love men who have a lot going on in their lives, like I do,” she said. “He's funny, and I like that. And of course I'm attracted to him!” she added.
Duff last made headlines during an online Q&A with fans via Idolator in honor of the ten year anniversary of her first studio album “Metamporhsis" last week. The former Disney child star told fans on Twitter that she is proud of her career thus far and is currently working on a new album. “I don’t know if another ten years from now, people are going to be like, ‘God, 'Metamorphosis' was the best!” but they might have some nostalgia attached to it,” said Duff. “And I think that’s really important. It got me to where I am now, and hopefully I have a big long career past it. Now, being 25, I don’t give a s--t what anyone says. I’m proud of where I came from and what I did.”
