After 45 minutes, Brazil have jumped all over home side South Africa, 2-0, in a friendly at Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg.

It didn’t take long for Brazil to get on the scoreboard against the heavy underdogs. Chelsea attacking midfielder Oscar managed to stay on side when he accepted a deep pass from Hulk in the 10th minute. All Oscar had to do with make a simple flick to put past goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

In the 29th minute, Williams was able to block a shot from the streaking Neymar. The Barcelona star had a one-on-one opportunity, but failed to chip the ball over the 22-year-old keeper.

Neymar would get his redemption with a sharp, left-footed shot from distance in the 40th minute, which skipped by a helpless Williams.

South Africa was constantly on the defensive in the first half, but still managed to not let the fervent attack of Brazil overwhelm them. The former host nation of the 2010 World Cup managed to put some pressure on goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

Felipe Scolari has sent out most of their notable players for the friendly in a glimpse of their likely squad for the 2014 World Cup. As the host nation, there is a considerable amount of pressure to win the title. Anything short of a dominant effort this summer would be a disaster for Brazil, who have failed to win since 2002.
